Two groups of volunteers were ultimately formed: 16 individuals (8 male, 8 female) were selected to receive short-form mindfulness medication program, while another 19 individuals (10 male, 9 female) were selected as a wait-list group. The mean age of the program participants was 36.25 (SD: 11.35) and the wait-list group participants’mean age was 31.26 (SD: 4.99). Sixteen people participated in five week group meditation, twice a week for 30 minutes in their lunch time. After the end of the last session, post-test was conducted. The results of this study are as follows; First, physical symptoms and depression related to job stress showed a significant decrease after intervention. Second, the short-from mindfulness meditation program showed significant effects on the psychological well-being of the participants, especially subscales such as self-acceptance, purpose in life, and autonomy. These results show that mindfulness program can be effective in reducing job stress of shipyard workers under high tension and work load. (Korean J Str Res 2014;22:181∼190)
