In recent years, mindfulness has been gaining much attention in the field of mental health. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship among mindfulness and burnout and to confirm whether mindfulness related skills have preventive function against job stress. Demographic variables, mindfulness skill and burnout of counselors working in 76 counseling centers which provide services for sex trafficking victims were measured and the relationship among variables were analyzed. We found that age, effectiveness of practice and working time could predict burnout. Non-judgmental acceptance and concentration, sub-factors of mindfulness skills, could predict burnout even if we controlled effect of age, effectiveness of practice and working time. Mindfulness skills did not show significant relation with job satisfaction. Results showed counselors who have Mindfulness skills tended to experience less buruout. (Korean J Str Res 2014;22:43∼54)
