The study was undertaken to evaluate the effects of a cognitive-behavioral stress management program on psychosocial stress, mood states, and ways of coping with stress for emergency department (ED) nurses.
The study design was a non-equivalent control group with a pre/post design. The study was conducted from July 1, to September 30, 2016. The sample population comprised nurses who work in ED in Seoul, South Korea. The sample size was 79 which included 39 in the experimental group and 40 in the control group. Seven sessions of a program (50 minutes/session) were provided over 4weeks. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics: the χ2-test and the t-test with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program.
There were statistically significant differences in psychosocial stress, mood states, and ways of coping with stress between the experimental group and the control group. However, the sub-hypothesis regarding the degree of using passive coping skills was not supported.
The results of this study indicate that a cognitive-behavioral stress management program for ED nurses is effective in reducing psychosocial stress, changing mood states positively, and improving ways of coping with stress effectively.
The purpose of this study is to determine the degree of perceived stress, fine dust risk perception, and resilience in patients with respiratory and circulatory disorders, and investigate the relationship between these variables.
A questionnaire survey was conducted on 184 patients with respiratory and circulatory diseases over the age of 20 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and stepwise regression analysis using the SPSS program.
The study found perceived stress, resilience, family relationship, and type of disease to be factors affecting the stress response of people with respiratory and circulatory disorders.
Understanding the perceived stress, resilience, family relationship, and type of respiratory and circulatory disorder prevents stress response and contributes to stress nursing.

The purpose of this study, which uses an nonequivalent control group non-synchronized design, was to develop of a self-empowerment intervention program for for inpatient at high risk of suicide, and to assess its effects on positive emotions (subjective well–being, psychological well–being, gratitude, optimism, Self-esteem), empowerment and suicide ideation.
Data were collected from January to December, 2016. The experimental group participated in 8 sessions of self-empowerment intervention program. The control group was granted general intervention program to the psychiatric ward. The collected data were analyzed in SPSS Win 20.0.
The results of this study showed the proposed self-empowerment intervention program for inpatient at high risk of suicide had the effect of improving positive emotions (subjective well–being, psychological well–being, gratitude, and optimism, self-esteem), empowerment and reducing the suicide ideation.
The program, developed in accordance with King’s theory of goal attainment, will serve as a useful reference in developing standard guidelines for nursing intervention program suicide prevention in psychiatric department. The results are expected to contribute to the practice of intensive nursing care for inpatient at high risk of suicide.

The purpose of this study was to identify file-up stress, family hardiness and mental health status to examine factors influencing file-up stress in family caregivers caring for elderly dementia. Data were collected by questionnaires from 109 family caregivers for elderly dementia at public health center. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. There was significant and negative correlation between file-up stress and family hardiness, and between family hardiness and mental health status; significant and positive correlation was found between file-up stress and mental health status. Anxiety was predictor of file-up stress. File-up stress, family hardiness, mental status in family caregivers caring for elderly dementia patient, and significant correlation between their relationships. Therefore, this study suggests that in developing interventions to manage for file-up stress, family hardiness and mental health status should be considered in family caregivers caring for dementia patients.
